Meet Kathi Tunheim

With a spirit and energy that is both genuine and contagious, Kathi Tunheim of Tunheim Leadership Group, Inc., brings a fresh, exuberant approach to leadership and life. Clients such as Medtronic, Cargill, American Express, Luther College, Augsburg College and Children's Hospitals and Clinics, have tapped into Kathi's speaking and facilitating gifts. Her topics include: Leadership Development, Teams, Strategic Planning and Work/Life Balance.

An authentic, hard-working Midwesterner, Kathi was born in South Dakota, experiencing her formative years in Orange City, Iowa and Walker, Minn. She was named a State Champion three times at the Minnesota State Speech Tournament, in three separate categories. With a thirst for learning and development, she earned her B.A. from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., her M.A. from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisc., and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Human Resource Development at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Kathi's people-focused experience stems from an impressive career, which includes over 25 years of Human Resource Development and Instructional Design. She managed Training and Development at Northwest Airlines and Carlson Travel Network, and served as Director of Leadership Development at American Express Financial Advisors, Minneapolis, Minn.

She is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in Human Resource Development, expected next May, and is serving as a Visiting Professor at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, in the Economics and Management Department this year.

As the President of Tunheim Leadership Group, Inc., she lives in Orono, Minn., with her husband Bob, a corporate attorney, and their three children, Rob, Amie and Kristie.
